Rockefeller Center

Rockefeller Center is located in the center of Midtown Manhattan, and it consists of 19 commercial buildings. It’s a combination of the original 14 Art Deco office buildings and a set of four International-Style towers that were built later.
Rockefeller Center was named after John D. Rockefeller Jr, who originally planned to build an opera house for the Metropolitan Opera to the area where Rockefeller Center exists today.
We visited Rockefeller Center and the area around it the day after our arrival to New York. I and my friends thought about going ice skating on the ice skating rink in the Lower Plaza of Rockefeller Center. Sadly, we were kind of short on time so we couldn’t show off the ice skating skills of us Finns. Later that evening we visited Top of the Rock and saw the beauty of Manhattan at night. Not a bad way to start the trip to New York!
