The
9/11 Memorial
The dreadful day of 9/11 when the Twin Towers came
tumbling down, the east side of the Pentagon got blown up and the last plane
fell somewhere in Pennsylvania...
We
had just eaten in a lovely burger restaurant as we entered the 9/11 Memorial
crowded by tourists. The square was quite peaceful to be honest with the giant
pits where the twin towers used to stand. The pits were huge, and they are the
largest man made waterfalls. Surrounded by the names of the deceased the sound
of the water falling made the place quite calm like a graveyard.
Like
you would expect the security was quite strict at the 9/11 Museum. The bulk of
the museum is underground where you could see remnants of the buildings,
stories of the people who died in the attack, see news reports of the attack,
and even see a short film of the attack. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see the
short film because there was trouble at the time with the movie.
Lastly
as you were exiting the museum you would hear the national anthem of the United
States of America.
